Any ideas on making a scroll like that of the "Grimm Reaper"'s?

I'm working on a costume and I need a relativelly long scroll that's solid enough for me to write using a feather quill and ink I'm making. It also has to be yellowish?? Like one of Death/Grimm Reaper. I don't know where to start.

Help please!

Wow. That's a tough one. What comes to mind here is start with a one inch diameter dowel from the hardware store, lumber yard, Home Depot, Lowes, etcetera. They come in three foot lengths. Cut two 12 or 14 inch long pieces off with any saw - manual or electric. A sewing store, or Walmart sewing department will have any color cotton cloth you want. Maybe one about 18 inches long and 10 or 12 inches wide. The cloth will be more durable than paper for your purpose. And finally, any good glue will secure the ends of the cloth to the dowels. You can write on it, it's durable, and won't come apart. How's that?
