Any ideas on the wording for postponing our wedding?

My fiancee and I were planning on getting married in November in California (we live in Chicago). He recently had some changes at work and doens't know what will be going on with his job. There is a chance that he will loose his job, a bigger possibility that we will be relocated to Colorado or Washington D.C. Either way there are too many unknowns to go through with the wedding seeing that we are paying fo rit ourselves. We sent out Save the Dates many months ago. Any ideas on wording the postponment note?

  1. Dear....................

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Weare posponing our wedding of 11/2/08.  We will keep you informed on our new wedding date.  We are so sorry for any inconvenience and  we both hope that you will understand.

    Thank you so much

  2. I would say "Due to the uncertainy of (*name*) and his job situation we have decided to postpone our wedding at this time.  (Name) has had some job changes and may be relocated to another state but we are uncertain at this time.

As soon as we have a finalization of his employment the we will will move forward.  Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  I would say something like that.  Just be honest with people.  I today's economy trust me everyone will totally understand.

  3. You can say something along these lines:

The wedding of John Walker and Jane Smith, originally scheduled to take place on November 15th, 2008 has been postponed until further notice. We will continue to inform you of any new information. We appreciate your understanding.

  4. Just send out little cards that say "The wedding of _______ and __________, originally scheduled for (date) has been postponed until further notice due to scheduling conflicts.  More information to follow."  You may also want to call up close family and friends personally so they don't get the wrong idea and think you broke up.
