  1. My breeder was a professional breeder (show dogs) so she was able to get sponsor type material, but what she provided me with was:

    -  1 week supply of puppy food that the pup was weaned on.  I could choose to stay with that brand or take the week to wean him over to another

    -   Health records (vaccination certificates, records of visits, treatments done - e.g. deworming)

    -  A package of basic puppy 101 in a nice plastic bound folder that she gets from Eukanuba

    -  In my particular case, a small supply of adhesive remover (my pup is a Sheltie and has he's ear tips glued to get them to tip).  You need remover to remove the old before you apply the new.  So if there is anything specific about your breed they need to know/have, make sure they have it

    -  resource websites with breed specific information

    -  a note on what your buyer should expect in the first few days (e.g. things you know about the puppy, his likes/dislikes).  My breeder was very good about showing me the environment that my pup was leaving so I could gradually adjust it to mine.

I think the biggest shock to puppies is they go from one environment to a totally alien one.  Some take it in stride, but most need to be introduced gradually to your household.

Basicly, you should supply the few basics to enable your buyers to get the pups home and o.k. for a couple of days until they can purchase the rest.

Before they come to pick up the dog, however, my breeder also sent me a shopping list of things that she recommended we buy:

    -  Breed-specific grooming tools

    -  Crate

    -  Xpen

Remind your buyers to bring towels (in case of car sickness), toys and preferably a crate for the trip home.   I chose not to use the crate for the drive and cuddled the pup instead so that he would get used to me (obviously I had someone else drive!).  It turned out to be smart.

I also timed my pick up for arrival at home at supper time.   So the first thing he got was food!  Bonus!  And then shortly after he was ready for bed-time.  He slept the whole night, only waking up about 5 a.m. the first night.

  2. A good amount of the food you have them on would help. That way if the owner wants to switch foods, they will have enough to slowly transition them, or to see if they like the food youve had them on. I know at my job when people get new puppies we give them brochures on things like Parvo, worms, health insurance, heartworm pills, etc. We also give them a first month of Interceptor, but you probably dont have access to all that stuff.

  3. Enough food that you are feeding to last 2 days.A list of history on the mom and dad if you can.Information on how to prevent this pup from getting Parvo.Your Name & phone number.Tilks Mom

  4. Registration papers and pedigree

    Puppy food

    Colar and leash

    A couple of toys

    Medical record

    List of toxic plants

    List of toxic foods

    Potty and crate training advice

Card with all your info on it (so they can call you for advice and updates)

    Lots of hugs and kisses

  5. Are you fostering them or something and they are now going to new owners?  If so, then these:

*A small 5 lb. of dog food (for each puppy) of what they eat

    *Some toys for them

*A bed (for each of them)

*ID Tags (for each of them)

*Collars and/or Harnesses (for each of them)

    *Leashes (for each of them)

*Papers for each of them, vet recipts and if they are registered

    *Treats for them all

At the moment, I can't think of anything else.

  6. A spay/neuter contract and perhaps a bill of sale.  That's about it.  Your puppies' new homes should already prepared if you properly screened the new owners.

  7. For sure the most important thing to pack is all the registrative papers and the foods used to wean your little children. Defiantly try to include a piece of cloth that the litter scented up. People don,t think in dog terms, only in people terms for what is best for the dog.It is a thinking mammal and this will help with separation anxiety. After that, all is optional. chewy toys and whatever. The main thing is to protect and contract you puppies well. If you are a geniune breeder and not a puppy mill, make sure you protect you canine offspring in proper placement and contracting. Do not allow Your puppies paper to go without spay neuter contract, you never know if one may end up at a puppy mil. If people are genuinely interested in breeding, then they should be happy to pay for the open akc paper.I guess two more thing that would be the most responsible would be a training video and a grooming book for your specific breed. Having bread Dalmatians hearing tested at tufts, having chips in all my pups before sale and OAF displays and vanwilabrans testing are wise. Good luck and godspeed on you pups new families. Also Standard poodles. golden retrievers and shelties

  8. leash, collar, chew bones, chew toys, meat bones, rope to play tug of war with, squeaky toys, small amount of dog food they eat, vet card, shot & vet records.

  9. Puppy Food

    Teething Ring for Puppy's

    Cheweys

    Collar

    Leash

    ect.

  10. We always put food, a toy (purchase before they go and let them play with it so it smells like them), a collar and leash (get cheap ones b/c the owners will probably want to get their own), bowls, rawhide, and puppy shampoo. This way they won't have to go to the store for anything right away.

  11. Info on the breed, registration papers if purebred, any special care they need, grooming tips, a list of toxic foods, a toy,a quart bag of good quality puppy food and a few puppy treats. A record of their vet visits for their vaccination and worming dates. And a copy of your vets business card.
