I have father son time once a week with my 16 month old to give my wife some time off. Any ideas on what to do with him? I have done painting, book reading, paper cup phones and tried a local "kid" zone that did not exist.

  1. When they are young it is the best time.  My Daughter turns 1 on the 31st.  I would spend as much time as you can with them.  You never get those times back.  I would prefer to spend time with her then anything.   It is the age you can do most anything.  I take her shopping walk in the parks, play ball back and forth, wrestle on the ground, tickle her, cuddle up and sit and read books for hours.  Just spend as much time as you can you don't get that time back.   Your heart just melts when they go daddy daddy....

  2. I have younger ister but she is 3years old.You can play with him like games on the computer or like that.I thinks kids like playing with them.

  3. just take him to the mall or park, playground the carnival or even the fireworks show.

  4. The simple stuff is often the best - taking walks, playing outdoors (young kids are adorable in the snow), reading books, etc. You could also get some cheap musical instruments, or find things around the house that make music (a wooden spoon against pots, pans, tile floors, and large mixing bowls make GREAT music). Listen to fun music, make your own, sing songs, and dance! Tap the steady beat on his body and/or with an instrument. Learning that steady beat is correlated to all sorts of different areas of brain development.

Practice climbing and jumping. Get one of those expandable tunnels to crawl through. Now is a time when he'll be understanding opposites, so play games that involve up and down, in and out, over and under, big and small, etc. These can give your little one a big sense of accomplishment and you can get really creative!

Good luck, and just remember that the most important thing is that you're spending time together. You're a great dad, and a great husband for giving your wife some time to herself!

  5. park...........

  6. take him for an outing to the places of interest & explain him about that.get him good toys he prefers.let him to play with his neighbour kids.

  7. Check with the area churches - sometime they have indoor play areas for children where they can interact with others.

  8. take him on a bike ride, go to a park, feed the ducks, walk through a toy store....take him fishing....these are the times that will bond you with your son for the rest of his life..and Yes he will remember
