  1. Well the oxymorphone is a morphine like pain killer. He probably did it to numb himself to punches and kicks so he could fool his body in to fighting more top notch. That the pain wouldnt be a factor in the fight.

the methadone is used to prevent him from getting addicted to the other substance. It too is a slight painkiller.

James probably did it so techinical ability was not hindered by pain in the body.

  2. maybe he's an addict.

they need to take better care of their bodies. if something hurts pretty bad...there's something wrong.

need the paycheck? ..come on some of those guys make more money per fight than i make in a year

  3. He knew the #ss kicking he was about to receive was going to hurt a lot, so why not load up on pain killers pre-fight to avoid feeling the beating altogether...LOL.

Irvin was lucky - Silva didn't get a chance to do much damage because he knocked him out so quickly.  Maybe if Irvin wasn't so stoned he wouldn't have just let Silva catch his leg and bash his brains in?

  4. Irvin has an injury he was recovering from. He might have believed that it was well flushed out of his system.

    E

  5. So he won't as much later? Maybe his back hurt. Ask him.

  6. Of course, to get an edge in the fight. Didn't work out too well, did it?

  7. It sucks but a lot of MMA fighters have to train through ridiculous amounts of pain. I remember when Hermes Franca fought Sherk and Franca tested positive for a banned substance he said he was taking to help his back heal better. His justification for it was that he needed the paycheck and he wasn't going to cop out of the biggest fight of his career. For a lot of those guys they need to put bread on the table and backing out of headline fights is not something they want to do often. I'm sure Irvin felt this was one of the biggest names he could take on, win or lose, and he did the same. It's not right but these guys arent immortal... unless you're named Fedor....
