Question:

Any ideas regarding how I can make an indoor run for my guinea pigs?

Hi there. I've just bought two new guinea pigs, and really want to give them more exercise. However, I don't want them to have the run of my flat yet, because i'm paranoid that they might chew on a cable or something, and they like to settle in unreachable places.

I'd like to, very cheaply, make them a decent sized run, or something similar, that they can play in. Any one have any ideas what I can use to make this? I'm absolutely useless when it comes to creativity.

Thanks alot.

  1. you can get a puppy pen it folds up and can be as small as one foot high but when stretched out gives a nice amount of room.put it on a solid floor such as kitchen or laundry room.put a few little boxes in there for them to hide in and then when you put them away at night clean up should be very easy, just fold the puppy pen back up mop the floor etc. They will love it.Tilks Mom

Any pet smart or pet co type store carries them, just make sure you get the short one.

  2. Hi, This site is awesome http://www.guineapigcages.com/  It will show you how to make homemade cages and runs.  I have a cage and run both made out of grids.  Good Luck:)

  3. Heyy, I was in this same position only a few months back - I figured guinea pigs can't exactly jump. So I used unfolded cardboard boxes to make walls and use it as a supervised run. Guinea pig runs - if indoors, theoretically don't need a roof (aslong as there's no other animals nearby that could cause harm etc) and don't necessarily need large sides - so go wild, let your imagination run free.
