I am stumped on this perennial that came with the new house I bought. I have no pic but it looks like small delicate purple passion flower clusters on a columbine like foliage. Has alot of seed pods in pale lime green. Any ideas. I am in colder zone 5. It is about 3-4 tall as far as the bloom stalk. Any good websites that let you narrow things down that may help.

  1. Boy with out a picture it's hard to figure it out.  But I have spiderwort...  It sounds sort of the same.  http://www.gpnc.org/spiderwo.htm

    Otherwise, it could be phlox.

When I want to know what a plant is, alot of times, I will go to a website that sells plants.  If you have a nursery in your area with a website, you could look there too.

If you get a pic of it, you could take it to a nursery or another place that sells plants.  Someone might be able to id it four you.

Otherwise, you could check with your neighbors and see if they know what it is or if they have it growning too.

  2. sounds very pretty.  I have no idea what it might be, but I would take a flower and a leaf to your local nursery.  They would no doubt know what it is
