Okay its a summer day, and you have nothing going on, your home alone, all friends are unreachable, and its too hot to play outside. Possibly Swim....thats gets boring after awhile.

Do you have any suggestions on what i should do?

What at home activities do you do when you are bored and trying to pass time?

All ideas welcomed.

Oh and i am looking for like an activity kinda sorta like making stuff....hands on stuff.

Thank You

  1. Yep, cross stitch is fun.  You can make beautiful pictures with lots of detail that take 6 months, or small cute ones that take a few hours.  Patterns are free all over the web, it's easy to do and cheap to start up.  You just find a picture.pattern you want to do, buy only the colors you need for that project, some canvas, a hoop (or frame, depending on project size...start small) and some embroidery needles.

Free patterns can be found here http://www.freepatternsonline.com/xspatt...

http://www.maurer-stroh.com/cat_free.htm...  I've gotten many from this site, the designer does beautiful work.

There's also plastic canvas crafts.  Basically cross-stitching on plastic and sewing pieces together to make animals, houses, wall hangings, you name it.

Or you can knit or crochet.  I do less of those in the summer because my hands get sweaty but if the A/C is on I can manage fine.

Think of cooler days and make Christmas Ornaments.  Buy a kit or make from scratch.  http://www.marymaxim.com/webapp/wcs/stor...  I like looking at the pictures and coming up with my own way to make the product without buying the kit.  I LOVE doing felt kits though.  That's something I haven't done in awhile...hmmm  It might be time :-)

  2. How about resurfacing your kitchen cabinets?

    Perhaps organizing your closet?

crafts? check out Michaels and see if they have craft classes that would be of interest to you.

    go for a walk.

Check out your state's conservation department and see if they have a conservation program you could do. Missouri has a great one - and you can earn patches for it.

check out your state parks and see if they have activities to do.

  3. Try some crafts for a while! Since I discovered cross-stitching some years ago, it has become my favourite year-round thing to do!

  4. when everybody is out of the house...

go on the train and draw the randoms there secretly?

  5. I rarely get bored unless I'm ill and don't have any energy to do my usual stuff.  Things I do when home alone with no work to get on with:

Read.  There's always a waiting list of books for my attention!

Sew:  OK, so this is also my work, but if there are no customer projects screaming for attention, I make bags and quilts:

Take a dog for a walk (I have borrowed dog this week!  :) )

Cook!  I invent new recipes and revamp old ones.  Ice cream is fun in the summer...

    Restore old sewing machines...
