My brother went on a night out tonight, and phoned half an hour ago, not drunk at all, asking for the Samaritans number. There were police/ambulance sirens in the background, and he sounded slightly rushed.

I text him the number, and he text back to say thanks. two minutes later i recieved another text message that said "It isn't for a friend, its for me...... keep it quiet"

he's since turned his phone off, and i'm really unsure of why he would be needing to phone the samaritans, he does not suffer with depression, or any drug/alcohol related issues.

please help. any ideas?

  1. maybe he smashed someone's face in with a brick and needs to talk about it

  2. It's really hard to know what has happened or why he needed the number for the Samaritans, and I know you must be really worried.

Just try to take comfort from the fact that if something bad has happened police or ambulances are there dealing with it, and that if your brother or someone else needs help he has had the sense to ring the Samaritans.

Perhaps he's called the Samaritans from a phone box and has therefore turned his phone off.

Do you know where he was going out to tonight??  Perhaps you could ring the local police and find out if there has been an incident of any description.

He sounds like a sensible bloke so hopefully everything will turn out okay.

  3. To be honest, how the h**l are we supposed to know?

  4. That is strange.  If he lives on his own perhaps you could go and see him.  If he lives with others, then hopefully he is will be alright.
