Hello, I am looking for insight on working on a cruise ship, what would be the requirements, length of stay and income for getting on a cruise ship, NCL is having a national recruiting job fair and I am interested in it, I am a single unemplpyed 29yr old male looking to get away, would this be a wise chioce, or do I have no idea what I would be getting into

Would it be possible to save up some money or is it even worth doing if you dont get to see the sights and you are always working 24/7

Any insight on Norweigian Cruise Line and how they operate and life on a cruise ship in general would be helpful

  1. Working on NCL America is actually somewhat different from working on other lines, because it's the only major company that hires Americans (they have to, it's a legal trade-off in exchange for better itineraries in Hawaii)

Yes, it's definitely possible to save money.  Although some jobs may not pay much more than minimum wage (e.g., kitchen hand), you also have virtually no expenses.  Your meals and housing are paid for.  You'll only pay for alcohol, phone, that sort of thing.

You won't work 24/7, though the hours will be long.  I'm not 100% sure, but I think its 10 hours a day, 7 days a week but you get overtime (at a higher hourly rate) just like in a regular job.  However, it might be fewer hours rather than overtime.

Overall, it's a tough job.  If you find something you like that's local, take that.  But NCL America is easier than, say, joining the Army.

    Good luck to you.

  2. prepare to do with the c**p of the **** everyone else gives you..

  3. Don't poke holes in the side of the ship.
