Considering a job there for 2 yrs, but needing more info from people who ar from there or have lived there or are highly informed. I would like to be able to leave KSA to take trips home when I can, which would mean flying by myself with 2 young children (Dad would have to stay and work). Is that possible? Is it safe? Thanks in advance for interest and response to my question.

  1. you'll be just fine.. Although im a saudi.. im also an american citizen.. I travel to see my relatives in USA.. and ironically  enough I have two children.. Yes I go to the airport by myself or a a relative or my husband drives me.. My husband usually stays behind to work.. I travel by myself with my two kids.. all the way through Europe, then onto USA.. its daunting, but the flight attendants are always so helpful.. I usually fly "KLM".. I have found they are excellent with families and small children.. I can remember once my baby was 4months old and my son was 6.. (OH was he a handful).. he was all over than plane.. Everyone.. I mean EVERYONE knew his name by the end of the longggggggggggggg flight.. lol

but they were nice about it.. I made it several times just fine and you will also..

  2. Dont think you will have problems, i travel to Jeddha alone for business.

Sometimes the immigration officials can take longer to allow you entry and pass you about but they always let you in at the end.

Just make sure you have a car waiting for you at the other end to take you to the compound adn you should have no problems.

  3. no problem for that. just be ready to absorb their culture here a bit. theres so many american groups that you can join in to. lifes getting harder in the west nowadays due to hike in oil prices so many western men and women relocate mostly here in saudi for a tax free living. make yourself ready emotionally physically psycologically and financially? KSA will provide you with that.

  4. You will be fine. I do not foresee any problems with what you have described. Mintee has given First hand information and I concurr with the lady.I think once you get used to life in Saudi, it will be hard to get out.

  5. Yes, it's safe.  I don't think you'd have any problems traveling alone with your children to and from your country.  However, I'm sure you know that women can't drive here yet, so your husband or a taxi would have to drop you off and pick you up from the airport, but that shouldn't be a problem.
