  1. Bro, if I were you I will move to the Coronado area.  45 min from the city, you have a huge supermarket there, beach, no traffic (expect on weekends) and everything around it is cool.  El valle de anton, el decameron, playa blanca resort, penonome, las tinajas (there are not that good now, but its okay), etc.

  2. well don't go there because is a dangerous area i advice you to select areas like punta paitilla,el cangrejo, via argentina, clayton but if you want to live in a place among the forest out of the city well try to choice places like San Carlos,Boquete has a good cool weather, bocas del toro, etc.if you are still interesting to go to colon try to choice pleaces out of colon, choice places close to the sea, my cousin is living out of colon and he bought a wonderful house out of colon is a quiet place so you'll be able to find places like this one.

  3. NOOOO! My parents are from Panama, my dad bein from Colon and my mom from the capital.  Colon is a very bad place, it's dangerous.  A lot of ppl can try to steal from u at gunpoint and the buildings are falling apart.  I disliked Colon when i went to visit my family there.  It's just an ugly place, like a slum or a ghetto, which is dangerous.  I am really disappointed in the Panamanian government for not trying to make Colon safer and help lots of poor families out.  They could start with making new buildings  and fixing  old buildings.

  4. If you're planning to live in Colon,be make sure you bring Smith&Wesson with you.

  5. I would choose the city or surrounded areas. Colon is nice for visiting but it all depend if you would need a good hospital around if an emergency arise.

And which part of Colon? near the coast or the main city?, there are nice areas and if you know to drive from there to Panama City probably there is no such a big issue, just as the other poster stated...at night is different depending where you live.

  6. Honestly,I can think of about two dozen other places I would rather live in Panama.

Other than the free zone and a stopover for cruise ships I can't understand why anyone would visit or choose to live there.I have been traveling in Latin America long enough to  recognize and separate the truth from the fiction of urban legends about how dangerous different places can be.I would concede that Colon is usually not a problem in the daytime but at night I would be very uncomfortable walking around a large portion of the city.

I have never had any problems there and I know there are some very nice neighborhoods, but for me it is not a place I would be comfortable living... just my opinion.

I'm sure you are aware that there are currently about 200 thousand other people currently living in Colon that might have a much different opinion than mine if you were to ask them the same question.

    Suerte!

  7. Panama is a great place to live, and the proof is that half the city is full of Americans, Europeans and Canadians coming to live here.

But Colon is not the best option.  Unless you are talking about the interior of Colon (Costa Arriba or Costa Abajo).  The city of Colón is very dangerous.

Panama City and the rest of the country is very safe and very nice.

  8. i am panamanian...and i would not consider living in that province...if you can imagine life in the inner city being tough...that is how life in colon is like...

    not a good idea
