  1. Most all gun manufacturer's still offer their rifles in 222 Remington.  It is usually a no-cost special order.  Winchester, Ruger, Remington etc still show it in their catalogs.

You will be hard pressed to find a 222 Rem new or used in a gun store since it shoots identical to the much more popular 223.  Things have been this way for the poor 222 for nearly 30 years.

    Hope this helps.

  2. You might be able to find one or two on Gunbroker

    http://www.gunbroker.com

    Or

    http://www.gunsamerica.com

If you want to check them out in person, try a gun show.

  3. The .222 Remington is all but obsolete, as far as I know the only production rifle currently chambered for .222 is the Sako Varmint 85, and Beretta apparently does not import it into the United States.  The .222 Remington has been replaced by the .223 Remington, that is basically a stretched version of the .222.  Nevertheless, the .222 has a dedicated core of devotees including bench rest shooters and varmint shooters.  I've included a couple of links to some decent information.  If you have one you may certainly use it for varmint hunting or target shooting as it is.  You may also wish to have it rechambered for the .223 since .223 ammunition is more widely available and less expensive.  Check with a local gunsmith about the rechambering option.
