Any information on the last name Petrushevsky??

My mothers maiden name is Petrushevsky. My family came to Canada in the late 40,s. Originally from Germany and fled from the war, because my family is Ukranian and not German. I don't know much history, and was wondering if anyone knew anything on the name. Any help or points is appreciated,

You're in luck. Because they came after the last war, the record-keeping is extensive. Contact the Canadian Archives to get their naturalization documents. That will fill you in on thier family life pre-war and how their trek across Europe led them to Germany. You'll get their hometowns, parents and siblings' names, etc.

Then you want to contact the International Red Cross Displaced Persons center to see if anyone left a query trying to find these people. It's amazing how even 60 years later, there's a unit out there trying to reunite family member separated by war.
