There is a lot more information on Wiki. :-)

  3. Hola.  There is no such city called Baja.  This is the name of the peninsula that is on the most westerly side of Mexico  Its separated by two states, norte (north) and sur (south).  It has two capital cities.  The south is called La Paz.  The most popular tourist area is called Los Cabos.  This consists of two towns (cabo san lucas and san jose del cabo) joined together with what is called the corridor.

I just recently toured the museum in La Paz for anthropology. It was very facinating to learn about the first peoples, how the land was formed and the landing of the Europeans.  Maybe consult wikpedia if you want more history on the region.
