Tonight after i put my son to bed i told my husband that he could put our daughter to bed which most nights is not an easy task. while i took a nice long bath and read i get to do this about once a year and it nice to have a little peace and quiet. Anyways when i got out of the tub and opened the door there was my poor little girl laying on a blanket by the door with a dirty diaper hanging half off her and where was my husband sleeping on the couch! Anybody else have stories of when they leave their kids with daddy?

  1. My husband has done the following while "taking care of" our toddler under two:

let her walk around with a battery in her mouth (I found it about two seconds after walking in the door)

put her in her swing for so long at about 2 months that he had to take the padding off and wash it

not fed her or given her anything to drink for 7 hours (she was yelling, "Mommy, cheese!  Milk!  Snack!" when I walked in the door

left the front door open while I was making dinner in the kitchen and he was "on duty," thus allowing her to go out the front door, down the steps, across the yard, and close to the street by the time I did a check to see if he was really watching her.  He was on the phone, and when I panicked and screamed, "Where's the baby?" he looked dazed and said, "Huh?"

bought an industrial strength paper shredder, handed her a piece of paper, and said, "Come see what Daddy bought!" before I intercepted and asked him if he was OUT OF HIS MIND

decided it would be a great idea to strap her into the Baby Bjorn at three months old and take her out to push mow the lawn in 40 degree weather

The list goes on.  Really, I'm just getting started.  This is a guy who counsels pregnant women and delivers babies for a living.  Best of luck to ya.  Don't take your eyes off those kids, you hear?  LOL

  2. Sorry I don't have any "interesting" stories to tell. My husband has always known how to handle our children since they were born. The worst thing he has ever done was leave them in a dirty diaper to come pick me up from work while I was working. The best thing was coming home and seeing him asleep holding the little ones while they were sleeping. I don't know what I would do without him and maybe they just aren't old enough for the stories to pile up :)

  3. I'd go to work for 9-10 hours to find my son in the same pajamas I put him to sleep in the night before.  Crawling around while pulling the trash can around the apartment. I finally got mad and did some yelling. After that I'd come home to him in different pajamas but they would both be sitting in front of the tv playing play station (well my son thought he was playing) but it kept daddy awake and baby occupied and they were both showered lol

  4. I have an ecyclopedia of events.  Thats why Im not with daddy anymore!  =)  Hopefully yours gets a clue before it becomes that stressful.

Now it bothers me because they GO to daddys - meaning Im not there to take care of them at all - and sometimes it really scares the h**l outta me.  He would sleep til noon most days...and I wonder does he do this when the kids are with him.  We have 3 together, a 4yr old girl and twin 3yr old boys and as you already know you can not leave them for a second (especially the twins) without something happening.

Another thing of his that I hate is he is way to laxed about supervising them.  I needed his help once to pick up some c**p at home depot and when they go anywhere with me we have a hold hands rule in the parking lot - makes sence right?  Well, he let them run ahead of us until I noticed after locking the van up.  When I gave him the lecture he says "nothings gunna happen" and scoffed it off.  Is he serious?  Oh and just last weekend my daughter informed me that my twins are now using regular car seats and boosters made for a 5yr old in his van.  It sickens me worrying about it and he will do the opposite of what I ask just to spite me so I have to let it be, and just hope for the best.

He is a good dad overall...I mean he loves his kids and loves to play with them but in many ways he need to grow up.

  5. I have 5 kids and im pregnant with twins. When i left my kids home with my husband he fell asleep too. And the kids made a big mess and some of them were runing around the house naked and one of my girls missed the toilet. I was at my friends house relaxing. Yes it does feel good!

  6. Well I left my oldest son alone with his father for 30 minutes to wash dishes when he was about 8 months old.  I hadn't gotten to do them at all the night before because our son was sick and I was the only one taking care of him (he was the type to say "well I work all day"). .....so anyways i walk in the room 30 minutes later to find his father sound asleep in the chair and my son chewing on glass that he had taken out of a picture frame that was sitting beside the tv.  Some how he got the frame down and took it apart and was chewing on the glass part.

  7. My uncle bought me a doberman for my 5th birthday.

My husband is generally brilliant with the kids, though he's really colour blind.  If he dresses them they end up leaving the house looking like psychadelic tramps.
