  1. it hasn't meaning

it may be a surname, or the name of a famous historycal family or nobles

    i'm italian

  2. if it's written: grottini, it's a small cavern, but I think it's more probably that is written Grottini, so it's a name, like Washington, Williams, Cruise

  3. Maybe but it can be only a surname too....

Via dei Grottini = Grottini street

  4. In Italian "grottino" is a small cavern and probably in that streets there are (or were) a lot of small caverns, hence the name "Via dei grottini".

BTW itsn't absolutely a kind of pasta...!!

  5. yep im half and i think it means some sort of pasta.

    :)

  6. In which city did you read about this street?? It's important because it can be a dialectal word... If you want you can do the same question on Yahoo Answer Italy... You can say " Ho letto su un libro che parlava di .........(name of the city) una via che si chiama via dei Grottini. Qualcuno sa cosa significa Grottini?? Grazie. Pls answer in English" I think that it's a good idea!!! Try it...

  7. martox45 has got it right - maybe the street was once lined with small caves and hence the name today.
