I would like to ask if anybody here can give me a good help in looking for a job. I just needed one badly, I arrived here in manila from the province four months ago, since then almost everyday I applied in different company. I also applied in 25 major call centers here in manila and failed them all. I also applied in local employment agencies, but to my dismay they only get money from me. Now im just so desperate in looking for a job, I would accept any kind of job even more now that my parents stop giving me a allowance. Thanks!

  1. if someone gives you money take it and go back home.  who told you that jobs are plentiful in manila?  it is easier to live in the provinces than in the capital.  believe me.

    been there, done that.

  2. Hi, have you tried www.jobstreet.com and www.jobsdb.com and other online job databases? If not, you could try them; these sites categorize jobs by profession or location. Register first (when I registered in 2002 it was free, but I think it still is), then you will be asked to submit your resume/CV and fill out other particulars that would help them select jobs suited for your degree/experience. They also have that very helpful service where they send job updates thru your mail.

Your CV should be professional-looking and contain concise information about what you have to offer. Your photo should also give the impression of being a capable and efficient individual. Your email account should speak well of you too; hence, emails such as pogi_1234 might not be very appealing to employers. Get opinions about phrasing your sentences in application letters too. Your CV, photo, and use of written words are only some of the tools to land you that job.

Practice before an interview also helps a lot. The internet holds a great source of the most asked interview questions, and practicing your answers will give you a great edge over the other applicants (no stammering plus you have your thoughts organized beforehand). Do a research on the company you are applying for. Think: what can you contribute to that organization?

When going for an interview, wear clothes that exude confidence; if you have a tie, wear one. I think black shoes look really professional. For tops, I think pastels and plains are safe bets. Practice a handshake that's firm yet friendly. During the interview, avoid fidgeting, and look the interviewer in the eye when speaking. At the end of the interview, the interviewer usually asks if you have any question. Prepare an open-ended question for this; it's also a plus point because it shows that you are serious about working for the company.

The job market is getting tougher, but these will always be the basics. As Richard from Grey's Anatomy said, 'If you want to win, go back to the basics'. Good luck on your hunt!
