Any joggers/runners out there?

I really enjoyed running in high school. It's been about 4 years since, and I've had a child. I'm extremely out of shape now, hard to touch my toes! But I want to start running again, and just wondering what I should do to start. Should I stretch first, should I not eat before I go?

All of these and I really enjoy going, but I feel so tired all the time, and I just need to set aside a time and do it. I think I just need some encouragement from others who do it!

  1. i would join a gym if i were you and workout early in the mornings like 8 or so, youll feel energized all day. some people eat before workouts but you have to do it atleast and hour to an hout an a half before. i would just eat breakfast afterwards. besides your body is still burning calories about 2 hours after your workout so its a perfect time to eat. eat something healthy. and yes stretch first and start out speed walking and then to a light jog. you shouldnt run yet because since its been a while youre going to get tired and it might discourage you. start out slow. so jog and if its to easy jog a little faster. you should do cardio for atleast 30 minutes.

                       speed walk 5

                       jog 5

                       speed walk 3

                       jog 5

                       speed walk 3

                       jog 5

                       speed walk 5

this is called interval cardio training which is cardio with small breaks between so your body will respond with hormonal and metabolic power boosts to burn fat. after doing the same cardio routines for a few weeks your results will plateau. so you need to change your cardio every once in a while.

after your cardio go and lift some wieghts because wieght training helps burn fat too. pick certain days for certain body parts and lift lightly with maybe 3 sets of 8 reps. low wieght will help you tone out and not bulk up.

you can do it . its only going to help you look and feel better and that should be motivation enough. and believe it will make you feel better.  you wont be as tired and lazy. you dont have to go all heath freak but  try to eat a little better too. good luck !

  2. Only eat one hour before working out or you may gain a stich whilst running (aint pleasent). And perform a small jog followed by some stretches before running, to prevent lactic acid building up.

I am running these days and it is a huge motivational boost, hope you do it :)

  3. Congratulations on your decision & determination to get back to running.  But be careful, you don't want to end up sidetracked by an injury.  Google "beginning running schedule" and check out some sane introductory ideas.  Also make sure you have good shoes.

    Good LUck

  4. Well I am a runner, cross country and track runner. To get back into shape you should start off by power walking each day around your neigborhood for a good 45 min. then as the days go on you jog and then eventually you can be able to run it. Also remember to eat healthy it will help you as you run. Drink a lot of water to keep hydrated and eat a lot of fruits and veggies. i hope that helped (:

  5. I love to run first thing in the morning. I get up, get into my running clothes, get out to the track, do stretches for my legs and back and arms, and then I start with a quick walk around the track once. Then I run as long as I can.

It is sooo much fun running!
