If so, tell about your rigs.

  1. I have a boat but i love fishing out of smaller vessels...i fish for bass..what do u fish for?

but i use a six foot shimano covergence with a shimano sedona

  2. I use regular rigs. 5'6" to 7' poles. spinning reels most of the time.

  3. I've got a Heritage Redfish 12 with two flush-mounted rod holders installed behind the seat, going to be getting a swivel mounted rod holder for between my feet, but nothing yet as far as that goes... She's stable and relatively dry (no such thing as a dry kayak, you know) and I just wish I had more time to take her out lately...

    Oh well...

  4. When I lived in San Diego, I would sometimes rent out a 15' long ocean kayak prowler angler edition with the rod holders mounted into the kayak.  I would only take out a cheapo spinning reel-rod combo (Shakespeare brand bought on sale for $19.99 at Wal-Mart) since the surf entry and subsequent beaching would inevitably result in all my gear getting splashed (if not submerged) in sea water.

In Lake Mead, I sometimes go out in my inflatable kayak using the same cheapo spinning gear.

I have caught bonito, barracuda and calico bass off La Jolla and stripers at Lake Mead with the above using crocodile spoons.

  5. I have a Wilderness System Ride as my main yak.  2 flush mount rod holders, I use a crate (for storage) in the stern well and it has 2 PVC rod holders attached to it.  I use one for my landing net and the other to store the bruce claw anchor when it's not being used. I have an achor trolly on both sides--it helps in pointing the yak in the direction that I want to fish.  Of course, paddle clips on the side.

I recently added a Malibu Mini-X to my "fleet".  It only weighs about 33 lbs and much easier to physically manage for a quick trip.
