I was trying to look up some stories of Soldiers / Marines / Sailors / Airmen who went MIA during WWII and their family's experiences during the MIA period.

  1. My great grandfather was MIA, but I wasn't alive. I heard it was a horrible experience. He got seperated from his group, and was living off of food out of trash cans for quite some time. My great grandmother was scared to death of course, because they had either just gotten married, or were about to get married when he went off to war. He stormed the beach at normandy, and survived. he is still alive today.

  2. I would go to a Legion or VFW and talk to some of the people down there. They might be able to give you some ideas of where to look or even some stories. Look up the website for your local VFW, Legion or try the Metro Marines, you might be able to find some numbers where you could contact some people and get some info from them. Hope this helps
