Ok, so my brother is going to check out the university at LA and I will have nothing to do there excpet walk the busy streets of LA, so I decided to finish my back to school shopping there, but I have no idea where to go! So, does anyone know any malls (indoor or outdoor) near UCLA? Thanks!

  1. theres a lot of stores in westwood (the town around UCLA)

    and the century city mall is pretty close to the campus

  2. There are buses that go to Del Amo Mall, in Torrance, CA.  The mall has 300 some stores.  Westwood would be more costly.

  3. I recommend Beverly Center on LaCienega for more upscale or you could drive up Santa Monica Blvd to Westfield Mall at Century City.  Now, if you want good prices and you plan to buy a lot, drive up 101 to Cabrillo outlet.

  4. I graduated from UCLA back in the 90's.  When I was going there, there weren't really any malls within walking distance of the campus...the nearest was the Westside Pavilion, and I had to take the bus to get there.

    However, right on the south edge of the campus is Westwood Village.  It is (or at least it was---haven't been back there in years) a bustling little area with shops and restaurants, sidewalk vendors, and good people-watching.  You should be able to kill a few hours there.

    There's good stuff to see on the campus, as well.  A nice sculpture garden on the north side and the Fowler museum.  Check out the student union.  When I was going there, they had bowling lanes, an arcade, and they have a large store on the first floor with not only all the UCLA gear you could want, but clothing and jewelry and stuff, too.  There also may be some sidewalk vendors on campus, too.

    --->Enjoy your trip!
