Am thinking of opening up a market stall in Amsterdam as I travel quite a bit and am thinking of going into business. How does this all work with the taxes and licenses etc and how much do you realistically pocket at the end of the month/week?

  1. Opening a proper market stall in the Netherlands is starting a proper business, with all the licenses and paperwork involved. You will need to contact a specialist to find out about all the rules and regulations.

The Kamer van Koophandel (KvK for short,) is the best place to start.

What I hear from people who work the markets, and what I see around here, near Amsterdam, you will not make a lot of money, as the fees are rather high and you need to commit yourself to being there, they do not want empty stalls in a market half the time.

The small side of the road stalls are often not legal, and will get you in trouble with the police, so better think if you want to do one of those.
