  1. If you're taking pills, you have to stop taking them slowly.

    It happened to me too.

If I didn't take my medicine I'd get horrible.

Slowly decrease the dosage each week.

    3 pills...

    2 1/2

    2

    1 1/2

    1

    1/2

    Talk to your doctor, too.

  2. Never stop a medication such as Aropax (brand name Paxil) cold turkey.  That's why you're feeling sick to your stomach.  You should wean off of antidepressants slowly and under the care of a physician.  Only your doctor can recommend a treatment option for you.  Good luck.

  3. It is never a good thing to just stop taking your meds. Go see your doctor and maybe they can prescribe something that doesn't cause weight gain. There are other antidepressents available. Do not just stop your meds.

  4. I used Aropax in the beginning and I had similar problems to you.  I managed to gain over 20 kgs of weight before I realised what was going on.  My doc decided that I was on the wrong type so was taken off, over a few days and it was not pleasant.  I remember having to walk with my hand touching the wall so I could walk in a straight line.  I even had to get my brother to drive my car for me.  But as much as it sucked it passed.

If you do need some sort of anti-depressant there are some out there where weight gain is not considered a common side-effect.  I will not say what they are as you doc and you should talk about it unbiased, but there are some out there.
