I want to become a doctor and I want to know if I can take two sciences a year at the same time so that I can apply to medical school in 2011.

  1. You can do whatever you want as long as your college offers it.  Most colleges probably will offer chemistry and biology in one semester.  There are no "illegal combinations" unless you violate a prerequisite.

  2. Hun,I'm in vet school, which is hard if not harder to get into than med school. Take two labs per semester, it will prepare you for the butt load of stress and work schooling in the medical profession will require. In undergrad, I always had at least 3 lab courses, once even 5, durn near killed me but I made it through with a 3.9. It can be done and I was better prepared than my one lab and 6 fluffy electives classmates our first year. Go for it.

  3. Definitely.  I took chemistry and my year of math together, but it wouldn't be an issue to take biology--I personally would not recommend taking more than two science courses at the same time, because you want to do well in all of them and they all do take up a lot of your study and class time.  The one thing you will have to figure out is if your school's schedule will let you arrange both the classes and the labs in the same semesters--it's easy to forget about the labs, but they take up a good bit of your time as well.

    Best of luck!

  4. I took AP Biology and CP Chemistry at the same time last year :) I got an A in both. However, chemistry does help with biology, but it is possible!
