Any more ideas?!?!?

So I've been wanting a hamster for a really long time. I've done just about everything I can to convince my mom.

I've...

*Showed her pictures of cute hamsters

*Assured her that it would be 100% my responsibility, she wouldn't have to smell it, take care of it, or even look at it.

*Offered to keep it in my room

*Told her that if I can COMPLETELY take care of my dog for 2 weeks, would I allowed to get one?

*Taken her to Petsmart and showed her the hamsters and how adorable and easy to care for they were, and I showed her all the supplies I wanted.

*Told her interesting facts about hamsters

*Acted REALLY depressed

And her answer is still no! Is there even any more hope?

  1. Sometimes you just need to wait a week or so before you say anything. Put up pictures of hamsters in your room or on your door. If you dont already take care of your dog by yourself are you sure you are responsible enough for another pet? Maybe you can

    *clean your room

    * do extra chores

Acting really depressed was probably not such a great idea because now she may think that you dont think your dog is good enough, and once you get a hamster THAT wont be good enough!!!

What i did (to get a mouse though)

    - I asked my mom (about 2 x a year for 4 years) and realized that wasnt really working. So instead i asked my bros., sis. 4 help and they came up w/ a few great ideas. But the best 2 were

____ when they say NO ask why not ( but not rudely) (just say "why what is it you have against hamsters?" ) Then you have to figure out a logical reason that there hamster problems are unresonable.

--example ::: They can run away and you will lose it for ever!

answer ::: I know but I will be carefull and do this to make sure he can never get out ( name a few things) and if he does i will (make a plan for getting him back)

    --example ::: They bite!

answer ::: any un-tamed animal will bite, i have a dog and dogs bite unless they are well taken care of and cared for hamsters are the same way!

and they came up w/ one other great idea.

    - write up a report about

-why you can take care of one

    -how

    -why you want to

    - cover all the "what ifs"

  2. Is it a rodent thing? I've wanted a mouse forever, but my mother absolutely HATES rodents, so the answer is no.

I agree with Cavalier Gal, ask for it for your birthday! If not then, Christmas or as a Back-To-School present.

  3. Try a rat instead! Serious! They don't smell as much, aren't nocturnal, are far less likely to bite (it's very rare they do), can be tamed, are easier to handle and can be taken around with you on short trips. Ours used to go with me to pick my kids up from school!

  4. ok well i suggest getting dwarf hamster... A CHINESE ONE!! there ADORABLE i just got one and i basically did all the things you did but what i did is printed out all the foods and drinks and how easy it was to take care of it and trust me it is!!!! oo and if that doesnt work say like well i am soo lonely and i need someone to talk to!! cheesy i know but it worked for me!! also if she still says no then....... dont talk to her and get really mad but dont go too far with that just enough to make her feel bad!!:) i know im an angel:) lol well if that doesnt work e-mail me and we'll talk more!!  lulu_scott@yahoo.com

  5. Whens your birthday? If its anytime soon and ahe asks you what you want write a list and Write this:

    Birthday List:

    1. Hamster

    2. Hamster cage

    3. Hamster water bottle

    4. Hamster food

And so on..Of the food supplies etc. And when you cant think of anything else a hamster needs. ;) And earn some money so you can pay for the hamster and the cage and etc.

  6. apparently not keep tryin she give in soon

  7. If your mom just doesn't like rodents, you may not be able to convince her.  She might still think you'll lose interest in it, and then she'd have to take care of it.

Have you tried making an organized presentation and presenting it to your family?  Like a science fair project almost, with all the facts about hamsters, especially reassuring facts like the cost of food, lack of smell, a planned schedule for the pet if she allows you to have it, etc.  The more work you put into showing your mom how interested you are in this pet, the more likely she is to think you're serious.

If all else fails, you should just take more responsibility for your dog and just hope that long-term commitment causes your mom to think twice about the fact that she denied you the hamster.  She will see that you're responsible even when there are no hamster promises in the air.  Then maybe she'll decide for herself that you are ready for your very own pet.

  8. Try asking for something much larger IE another dog. Pester her with this thought for a while, then act like you are giving up, and say well i guess i could settle for a hamster.

  9. I"m like that too!!!! i really want a hamster i even showed my mom a video of a hamster getting beat up my his owner and it was in the animal shelter and i told her i would take care of it if she adopted it and she dosnt want it!!!

i just keep on bugging her until she says yes .. i told her i dnt want anything for christmas or my birthday just a hamster try that
