  1. No memories. I'm too young. But yes very important and serious day it was.

  2. Wow about 1926 ?  On that day, infamous Gangster "Lefty Lewis" was charged with murder. He was accused of "preventing" witnesses from testifying against him and  had them convinced with a few bullets. (That's not nice.) He was eventually acquitted with the help of his cronies, who offered similar persuasion.

  3. An uncle was a crewman on the Arthenia, first British ship to be sunk, later to die, by bombing, at a British dock the day he returned from a convoy. The war started early for him.

  4. I was 7 years old at the time and I remember being told it would be all over by Christmas !

    BOuncing   Snap !!

  5. yes...world war 11...i know... my grandad lost two of his son's in that war...aged 22 & 27...it just reminds me how dreadful war really is!!

  6. VERY important date - especially for me.

I was evacuated from `down south` in 1939  - and taken away from my family and parents, to live with total strangers in a tiny village in Staffordshire.

I never got back to my family, ever again.  So I shall never forget 1939.

It changed my life, almost certainly for the worst.

I`ll leave YOU to work out my relative age!   I was 7 years old when I was evacuated.

  7. Memories...no

But I do know what happened.

  8. The start of World War Two
