Question:

Any natural allergy solutions?

I have moderate hay fever and allergies, and HATE taking medicines. They rarely work, and when they do, I'm comatose for hours (Benadryl!!). I know local honey helps, but I'm not in an area that has any. :(

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

  1. Look closely at your diet.  I hear goat's milk will cure allergies.

  2. yoga for you ,

  3. vitamins really don't help. I take supplements every day....  the only thing that helps me is benadrly it makes me tired but I try to have allot of caffeine with it to balance the side effects.

Probably not the healthiest thing to do but it's not that bad really, it's better than suffering every day.

But I understand why you would want something natural,

Quercetin. A natural plant-derived compound called a bioflavonoid, quercetin helps stabilize mast cells and prevents them from releasing histamine.

Citrus fruits, onions, apples, parsley, tea, tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce and wine are naturally high in quercetin, but allergy sufferers will most likely need to use supplements to build up enough of this compound to prevent attacks.

To help keep airways clear when pollen counts are high, add a dash of horseradish, chili peppers or hot mustard to your food — all act as natural, temporary decongestants.

Antioxidant Fruits and Vegetables  Grape seed extract, which can be found in vitamin or health food stores, has been shown effective. But in your own refrigerator, apples, bananas and onions have anti-inflammatory properties and help to build up your immune system.

Some foods, including apples in some people, cross-react with tree pollen and will cause allergy symptoms. Some of those foods include pears, kiwi, cherries, peaches, nectarines, celery, carrots, parsley, peppers and nuts like hazlenuts, walnuts, and almonds.

This happens to me I'm allergic to watermelon because of it.

  4. My son has the same thing and he takes Zyrtec. It doesn't make you sleepy like Benadryl. Why don't you give it a try. Honey does help but it needs to come from the area in which you live, because different area have different allergens. Good luck to you.

  5. Try http://earthclinic.com/CURES/allergies.h...  Read the section regarding apple cider vinegar, I think you may find it beneficial.

  6. Well this might be strange but I have found that first aid ointment put in the nose about 1/4 inch can help allergys. It kills bacteria and won't let airborn particles up your nose.

  7. Stress can cause hay fever attacks to worsen mate so you may find a bit of relief by supplementing with a multi B complex supplement twice daily ......... a liquid supplement would be the easiest for your body to effectively assimilate ....... get one including all the B's as they work best together ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folic acid etc........ the B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy neural, digestive and immune system functioning and will help you enormously in dealing with the everyday dose we are all exposed to at some level.

Also take a Vitamin C supplement in a powdered form containing bioflavonoids (enhances the power of vitamin C 10 fold) 1,000 mg (1 teaspoon) dissolved in water or juice 3 times daily............ vitamin C has been shown to have effective antihistamine properties............. if you're taking lots of aspirin you're losing vitamin C........ cut right back on caffeine containing drinks such as coffee and tea and eliminate sodas and soft drinks and pop as they will all dehydrate you terribly and rob you of your precious water soluble supplies of vitamin C.

Other things that will rob you of your precious supplies of vitamin C are stress, alcohol, aspirin and otc counter cold and flu meds, antiobiotics, sleeping tablets, laxatives and diuretics, the oral contraceptive and eostrogen supplementation (if you are female) and smoking.... Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and as such our bodies can neither store or produce it and we need to ingest it on a daily basis.

eat more foods rich in vitamin C ie ~leafy and green vegies, citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, strawberries, blackberries and red and green peppers etc...  mmm yummy, limes are good too.

Vitamin C reduces inflammation, stimulates the immune system and restores the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal tract.......... In addition, vitamin C creates an environment in the digestive tract that helps control the overgrowth of yeast, bacteria and parasites.

Vitamin C deficiency can contribute to digestive problems, as well as bleeding gums, increased susceptibility to infection, joint pain, unexplained bruising and lack of energy..... hmm, vitamin C the magical potion i reckon...........;0)

♥All these supplements that i've suggested you should be able to buy at any reputable chemist or health food store........;0)

    hope this helps u

    peace 2 u
