I play college volleyball and have mastered:

-Over hand serve

*Long, short, floater, and top spin

-Jump Serve

-Hop Serve (I think that's what it's called) Like a jump serve

with no approach and no top spin

Any ideas for other serves out there?

  1. there's the floater jump serve... and a jump serve when you come in from the side

i dont really know, good luck anyways

  2. Theres the chinese serve- it's kind of like a under hand serve but harder to control and harder to pass. STand with your side to the court hold the ball out just like the under hand and swing at it, hit the ball with your forearm. It's fun to try.

Have fun learning all of the interesting serve ideas you get!

  3. not really any other serves. there are several types of jump serves though.. top spin and float are the obvious (idk if you meant jump float by "hop serve") however there is also a 2, 3, and 4 step jump serve approach that you can try. try approaching straight on and from an angle or the side. i changed my jump serve from straight on top spin 3 step to a 4 step top spin from the left side and found its much more successful. you have all the basic serves mastered though..

  4. idk how to do it but we are going to learn it at practice tonight but its one that goes out then curves in to the back corner but its a special kind of floater

  5. here are two you will like:

orbiter-similar to a float serve, but it has side spin. toss the ball up, but when you toss in, bring your left arm back and right arm forward to put clockwise spin on the ball (looking up at the ball). then do the rest of your service routine the same, but when you hit the ball, turn your wrist around the ball, causing it to curve to the left. it requires practice, but is difficult to pass because of the movement and the spin.

backwards serve-stand facing away from the court, toss the ball in front of you, but also a little on top of you, and hit it up and back with an open palm. snap your wrist to give it top spin. it is a fun serve to do, but it requires practice, and is unfortunately easier to pass than most serves, but is great if you are way ahead.

    have fun.

  6. Sounds like you have quite an arsenal from the service line. Although having many different serves is good being able to place then where you want to is even better. Having a hard topspin jumper is great but being able to hit the weakest passer on the other side of the net with it every time can extend you point runs. Practice serving spots, 10-15 in each location. Try serving down each line and corner to corner. You may find that you can serve your float serve (taking the least effort on your part) to any location on the court and get a 5 point run out of a normally easy serve to return.

  7. yah, thats awesome...what college do you play for??? D1???

  8. The 'windmill' serve - because you can get more extreme spin on this serve than any other... also it's great when you're so tired, there's always this one.. still going well...

And the left arm serve (using your other arm) - just for the fun of it - overarm. And try a left handed windmill, just for fun again...
