  1. This site is good for cheap hotels in London.

  2. There are lots of hotels in the Victoria area, where a double room can be had for less than £100.

  3. Here's one of my best finds in years: I've used this company several times for friends and family wanting somewhere to stay in London that's really special, and very central. I thought of them because you asked for somewhere family-run.

It's an agency called Uptown Reservations, which offers accommodation with breakfast in very upmarket private homes. I'm sure they'd have somewhere to suit you. And single rooms start from £72, which is well within your budget.

All guest rooms have their own private bathrooms; many also add on a private sitting-room. And the hospitality is always great -- lots of good advice on places to visit and stuff. Everyone I've ever booked for has loved staying with Uptown and said it was much better than a conventional hotel.

Worth a call? Hope so. =D

Love from a Londoner born and bred.

  4. but keep your expectations low. You get what you pay for and its very rare to get both cheap and nice in the real sense. There are a few decent for around £70-80 but not family run. Why the family requirement?
