  1. I haven't been to Australia yet. But I have relatives in Melbourne. They seem to love it. Apparently you don't really need a car in Melbourne. You can walk or ride your bike to most anywhere. That is very appealing. I don't know much about Sydney except that it's a large city.

  2. I have been in both cities. Melbourne with the lovely mix of its victorian and modern buildings, Sydney with all the bays and beaches. Couldn't say which one is better. The crayfish and beer were fabulous in either one :-)

  3. Visited a couple of weeks ago, were only in both places for 2 days I preferred Sydney as Melbourne seemed to be just another city and Sydney was more vibrant (obviously in 2 days I didn't get to see alot so maybe missed some good things).  I was in Perth for a week and loved it there

  4. All the main Australian cities have their own character. Out of those 2 I prefer Melbourne, but not that much difference, my favorite is Brisbane though.

  5. I really enjoyed Sydney, but it depends on your personality!! Melbourne is for artists, they have all this crazy art all over the place (the over feeling is that of Austin).  Sydney was more metropolitan (the feeling of Los Angeles).  Don't get me wrong, but they were both great and big cities, but Melbourne also felt more "homey" and Sydney had more "hustle and bustle"
