Question:

Any nose - ologists out there ? Why do Human noses look the way they do ?

Ok, cats, dogs, bears, deer, wildebeast, cows, horses, giraffes etc ALL have similar noses even though they aren't necessarily closely related.. Apes and gorillas have similar noses, but not unlike those in the list above though. Fish don't have noses as they use gills, birds all have little holes in their beaks for noses, insects and arachnids breathe through their abdomens... The Proboscis monkey has the closest nose to us but it's still NOTHING like a human one really..

So why do you suppose human noses look the way they do ???????????

No other animal has a nose like us.

  1. The simple answer is because no other animal is exactly like the human. Physical structures evolve to best suit the organism's environment and lifestyle. Humans are bipedal and walk upright. They don't need a superb nose to sniff out food/friends/foes. And they don't need a nose suited for flying in the air or swimming in the water
