  1. Do you understand London English? Do Londoners understand you? There are thousands of Frenchmen (from France) in Montreal, Canada, and they understand French Canadians. It takes a few days or weeks to get used to the accent but it is the same language.

  2. If a Canadian and a French talk FRENCH (NOT their own dialect) together, they'll understand each other.

Of course, there are some differences (pronounciation, vocabulary) but it's gonna be OK.

As a foreigner speaking French, they (Canadians and French) should talk to you only in French...I hope

  3. There are a few differences, but once you get to Quebec(or wherever in cananda  you're gonna be) you'll get the hang of it.

They use a lot of slang here.

They also do something called Franglais. It's a mixture of french and english.

EX: Paul: Ah Non! J'ai oublié d'acheter un cadeau pour ma blonde(girlfriend).

       Georges: No problem!

  4. One is not "harder" than the other. If you speak European French, you will be slightly disoriented when first exposed to Canadian French, but you'll quickly get used to it.  It's mostly a matter of pronunciation, with a few vocabulary differences thrown in. Nothing to worry about.
