As an Englishman I do sometimes think we get a little carried away with our successes, and the droning on about '66 or '03 can get a bit much (though I suppose we ARE the only country to have been world champions in both codes, which might be one reason why others are so jealous!)

Given the form we came in with, beating the Aussies was enough; beating the Frogs was a bonus. Whatever happens next Sunday we'll be able to hold our heads high, not slink away with our tails between our legs like some countries I could mention!

They call us whingers and moaners but we hear this droning pathetic drivel every time we achieve something. Seems others are more interested in watching us fail than themselves succeeding. They have a word for that - insecure.

Try and think back to the last time we insulted any nation, winners or losers, in sport. Yet every time we get accuse of being bad losers or winners. They have a word for that too - delusional.

We don't get upset at insults anymore, if we ever did. Maybe that's why we get called arrogant.

Its not the bragging but the fact they have been a pathetic champion to say the least for the last four years.

Since being world champs they have:

No six nations, no triple crowns, beaten by 8 different nations, dropped to 9th in the IRB rankings, lost 7 games in a row, won less than 60% of their games and less than 20% away from Twickenham.

The only thing of note they have done is in the last two weeks. On that score they deserve to lose and lose badly. To see them win the world cup again will make that trophy farcical in my eyes. The Boks deserve it for the way they have played the last four years. England deserve to be belted 36-0 again.

I dunno - I guess in a way if you win it - you deserve it.  However I still think that the form of the team has to come in to play for the years following the RWC....... so if England did manage to win it again and had yet another unsuccessful four year reign between now and 2011, with loss after loss after loss...... then yes, I would not look forward to the bragging because it's quite undeserved and anti-climactic.

I feel that a RWC winning side should actually be able to back up their status to a certain degree afterward.  Which is why I'd be happier for SA to win, because they've been in great form the last couple years or so.
