  1. Here are a few tips..

    1. Be nice to your roomie if your staying in a dorm. I know it seems like it sucks to have to live with someone you don't know but most times they are your best friend later on... and just be nice so they don't jack any of your stuff or be rude back.

    2. In the first week of classes meet at least 2 people from each class and get their numbers and emails. That way if you ever miss class for some reason (slept through it, sick, yada yada) then you can call and find out what you missed. P.S. before i went to college all i heard was that no teachers take roll so you don't have to show up. WRONG!! i have never had a class that you could miss a ton of classes and still pass. most classes drop you if you miss three or more times. So be careful, buy a new alarm clock, have your mom call you. but going to class is a must. Im a senior in college. Trust me.

    3. Go to all the free campus events you can.. they will be your best form of entertainment when you have no money in college. Plus they usually give out free food( so worth it), t-shirts, prizes and money and stuff.

    4. If you brought a car.. don't let people mooch off you for rides. Gas is expensive and people will ask for rides.. ALL THE TIME. its okay to say no or to say your busy.

    5. Have fun.. if your too serious college will suck. The best advice I got before i went to college was " you can be anyone you want to be.". its not high school, the clicks are gone, and no one knows you.. Be who you want to be.. if everone knew you as the nerd and you hated it, you can change it. You were a jock? study hard.. like i said Be whoever you want to be.

    6. Meet people. This is the highlight of the college experience. Without friends college is a drag. Plus youll meet people you will be friends with forever in college.. or married too. :)

    GOOD LUCK!!!

P.s. don't forget to study. :) Get lost or have a question? email me. good luck!

  2. The biggest advice I have is don't be lazy.  Do a little studying/reading every day instead of waiting until just before an exam.  I suggest having the first chapter of your textbooks read before classes start, or atleast have them read by the end of the first week.

Also stay organized.  Get an academic planner, and write down every assignment's due date.  Usually the professor will have the dates of assignments and exams written out on their syllabus.

As far as homework, get to work on it when you get home.  Do work first THEN reward yourself with fun.  Also, make sure you schedule FUN!!  Go to the movies, go to a concert, just chill with your friends.  It's important to give yourself a chance to decompress atleast once a week.

  3. You will make friends in your first few days, there will be support from the uni and your family will only be a phone call away.

    You will be fine.

  4. I think you're just having those little pre-anything blips or concerns, like getting cold feet before a marriage etc.

remember you're gonig to be bundled with a load of people that are all in the same boat... just take each day as it comes... remember family and friends are just a phone call away... but you'll soon settle in and relax.

There will be other people you can chat to on a more serious basis.. but I'm sure what you're talking about is just nerves... and don't worry about after you've been there a few weeks to shoot back home for a night or two to catch up.. or get your folks to come down so they can take you out for lunch and feed you!! :)

remember Uni is about learning, but the major reason to go to uni is so that you grow up and become independant - sure there are times when you c**k something up, but thats just natural and everyone does it...

Majorly just make sure you have loads of fun, keep your spirits up... and have a laugh.. it'll be the best 3 years of your life... 3 year party here we go!!!
