  1. My daughter was 5 weeks premature and had a mild gross motor delay as a result. Because she was a preemie we were required to visit a developmental pediatrician on her 12 month appointment to assess her progress. Does your region have this type of requirement? I would definitely talk to your doctor. We were also told that larger children are slower in their gross motor skill development.

Remember that at 8 weeks premature, they may be 10 months old, but on a developmental chart, they are only 8 months old.

Here is a fantastic developmental milestone chart: http://www.bpl.bc.ca/gab/documents/ecdch...

It states that the 2 milestones for 6-9 months are sitting alone and rolling from back to stomach. You stated she can roll, which is great. Perhaps working on some upper body strength exercises, lots of tummy time and practicing pulling up on you etc. will help stimulate her to sit on her own?

Great job mommy, keep up the good work!

  2. her answer was very professional and i agree with what she said. the only thing i would add is dont waste time and get her an evaluation. im not sure if you have it where your at but first steps is a great place to start and they see children to the age 3 so i would get in there and get started.
