  1. Good little outboard. I would put the motor in water, add some fuel and see if it will start. Depending on the model year, I might have a manual here for it if you need some info

  2. I have that same motor in the 8 hp version. absolutely fantastic little engine.

It can sit all winter and start within 5 pulls the next spring.

your carb might be gunked up if the fuel wasnt ran out properly, try it and see if it starts, do not try it dry, you need water to it or you will ruin the water pump.

Well worth a few $$ to have it tuned up if it doesnt run properly.

  3. you can parts from a wreckers. i had to replace the coils .cause the plasic coating ceacks over the years from the heat           just pop the flywheel off and go from there.

very basic connections the wire just pushes in .

take out the spark plug and put it against the engine caseing and pull the starter and see if there is a spark ,, do this before trying to fix other stuff and get it going with   25 to 1  fuel mixture

  4. not sure of the info you want, but the below site has a little info on it and testimonial

  5. other than the venerable 9.9/15 that omc made the 6hp(in all variations) is probably the most bullet proof motor made ever period! no mater what year, make or model. for years people with i/o's inboards, merc's, chrysler's, yamaha's etc all used the omc 6 as a back up/trolling motor. it was probably the finest portable motor also. I have info on all model made including new and used spare parts. contact me with model # and I will tell you what you have  ps one of my all time favorite motors pss it also is one of the only motors that WILL always run in sub zero temps!! ie duck hunting, winter boating thru ice water(i have run them in -15-20 below temps!!!)

  6. Diehard outboard...Get a Haynes manual...the teeth on the plastic thing that engages the flywheel when pull starting are prone to wear....carry a spare and a spare pull cord.
