He is 11 years old, diagnosed with autism. He has never been able to spit which means he swallows all toothpaste put into his mouth. Also, I don't think he can gather saliva in his mouth to spit. Does anyone know what kind of Dr or specialist can provide some insight? Everyone I've talked to has not heard of it. Thanks.

  1. no

  2. Does he get any behavioral therapy?

If not its something to look into.  Does he eat foods of different textures and stuff?

  3. I've never heard a specific case, but there are certain disorders that may cause problems with his swallowing. Try seeing a Speech-language Pathologist. They specialize in these types of disorders, and he can get therapy to help his swallowing problem.
