Tiki Island is an upscale housing and residential area, not a beach.

I wouldn't live there because of the location. I'd worry about flooding.

I have a friend who lives there.



People who choose to live there usually want:

*to be close to the beach  

*be near the bay for fishing

*work near or in Houston

*want a weekend home near the ocean w/least liability.

Living on Tiki Island is a way to do all that without incurring the liability that naturally comes with hurricane season because the island is further inland.

A major downside is the nearby refineries take the opportunity to unload all their stored, "unscrubbed stinking pollution" during the night when a northern wind blows through. The smell of those refineries is so strong it drives some folks with allergies to leave for a few days. Other than the winter time, it's a pretty cool place to live.
