  1. Turn the water heater off for 5 minutes and then turn it light polit and when the polit lite turn it on.

  2. two sticks, rub them together, until fire.... fire good....

  3. Attempt to re-light the water heater pilot light, following the instructions posted on your water heater.

Set the k**b on ‘pilot’ position.

    Hold the k**b down.

Light the pilot and keep holding for 20 – 30 seconds.

This allows the gas to flow long enough to heat up the thermocouple and generate current and then you can release the over-ride button and gas will continue to flow.

Release the k**b and turn it to ‘ON’ position.

  4. you need to be sure what you are doing... generally there should be a position on the k**b to ignite the pilot light. you will probably need to remove a cover to get access to the pilot light and then you push down on the k**b if that is what your directions tell you to do... while holding a match at the right place. if it does not light in about 3-5 seconds you should stop to let the gas go away before tyrying again

and make sure you have gas turned on

  5. the instructions are on heater

  6. You are suppose to get a match and once you turn it on light it in that space area in the buttom. And don't leave it on otherwise you get blown the F up. and thats it.

  7. You should be able to open the bottom panel.

Turn on the gas and light with a long match.

  8. Here is an answer I gave a while back. It is fairly detailed and has a couple illustrations with it. I hope it helps.

Let me explain what you are doing and perhaps it won't be as frightening.

Before you start, go out and get some long fire place matches, the ones that are about 12" long. Or one of those long Barbeque lighters, something you can reach in with the flame, so you don't have to put your hand inside.

That water heater has a gas control that actually has two valves in it. The pilot valve and the main burner valve. And it is designed so that the main valve will not work unless the pilot valve is operating. So you cant accidentally turn it on with out a pilot to ignite it.

It probably looks like this http://bestbuyheatingandairconditioning....

    or this

    http://bestbuyheatingandairconditioning....

if not exactly like this it will have similar characteristics.

To the left of the control is where the gas line comes in. There may be a shut off valve installed in the line. Make sure it is on. It probably is a 1/4 turn valve. when it is off the handle will be across the line, when on it will be in line with the gas line.

On the control will be a k**b that has 3 positions, off, pilot and on. Next to the k**b is a button that can be pushed down, only when the k**b is in the pilot position. Notice the slot in the k**b to allow this to happen.

Now look below the thermostat and you will see a cover, remove it, and then an inner cover, remove it. Coming from the bottom of the thermostat are 3 tubes, a copper colored thin one, an aluminum one in the middle and a smaller aluminum on the right. The thin one, the thermocouple, and the smaller aluminum one, the pilot tube, run together in to the combustion chamber. The pilot is attached to the end of these tubes.

Now, with the control in the pilot position, push the button down and hold it for a few seconds then attempt to light the pilot by holding the flame toward the end of the pilot next to the burner. It may take a few attempts as there may be air in the line. Don't worry about gas coming out of the pilot and gathering to much to explode. You could hold the pilot down for a good while and not get enough to explode. Continue until the pilot is lit. After it is lit, continue to hold it for about 1 minute, getting the thermocouple hot. After a minute, let the button up and it should stay lit. Replace the inner and outer covers, and turn the control to on. On the front of the heater is a large round k**b. That is the thermostat adjustment. Turn it to the warm position and after it get to temperature in about 30min, if it is not warm enough for you, you can adjust it up some.

I hope this helps and feel free to email me if you need to.

  9. the instructions should be on the heater. if not, call the gas company, and they will do it for free.

  10. Turn the control k**b to the "Pilot" setting. Use a long match or a long nose gas lighter. Hold the flame under the pilot tube then press and hold the red button which is located next to the control k**b. Continue to hold the button for 5 to 10 seconds after the "pilot light" begins to burn. Release the red button and remove the match. The pilot should continue to burn. If it does not repeat the cycle and hold the button down longer. Once the pilot light is running on it's own turn the control k**b to the "On" position and set the temp control to the Normal range. If you can't get the pilot to stay lit then you do need to call the gas company for assistance.
