Heard this on the Scottish news tonight. A soldier who has served in both Afghanistan and Kosovo, Has been seriously injured in a car crash whilst off duty. He is in hospital with serious head injuries. The MOD refuse to fund him being flown home to hospital in Aberdeen where he will receive better care.

The reason they give STV when they asked the army about this, is that the MOD is not responsible for accidents soldiers have when they are off duty, the guy should have taken out holiday insurance to cover this sort of thing when posted abroad.

The family now face a bill of over 20,000 pounds to cover the cost of hiring an air ambulance plus the nursing staff to accompany their brother home, and an ambulance to take him from the airport to the hospital in Aberdeen.

  1. Quite, but don't forget that the army is governed by this disgraceful set of 'politicians' in the present government. They have just about destroyed everything we held dear in our country and the morale of the armed services is at an all time low.
