My husband is off for a temporary layoff from Ford and needs to know how unemployment works for this situation.

He claimed unemployment and they are sending him the standard check of around $300 per week from them but how does the compensation from Ford itself work?

He is suppose to receive a total of 95% of his wage while off, unemployment pays their maximum part and Ford pays the rest but unemployment only stated their part when he called to claim weeks of unemployment.

So how does the rest come, does Ford give it to unemployment and they put it in one check or does it come separate?

He is worried when they said the small amount because he has already waited so long to even get a check because of the waiting period.

Thanks!

  1. You don't get UI if you are still receiving money from the company--you are still considered as having earned income.  If he is getting UI, that means that Ford may not be paying him at all.  I would straighten this up!
