  1. Well thank your for the info. I didn't know I was losing points.

  2. The site is about sharing knowledge.  People who answers are producers, and people who ask are consumers.  Think of it like at a grocery store.  However, there are resources to recover some points if your question is voted as being particularly interesting, etc.

  3. Yeah it cost you five points to ask and you only get two points for answering, even if it is a long answer and you research it to make sure you are not giving false information. It is like taking one step forward and two and a half back. It doesn't seem quite fair, we should be able to ask as many as we answer and that would prevent freeload askers.  I think because of the point difference some people just give useless one or two word answers just to get enough points to keep asking, or even just mean or rude suggestions. Just because you know the answer doesn't make it a stupid question!

  4. darn! I thought I'd get more points for being the 1st to respond, lol...I'm still new at this even though I've asked alot of questions. How do folks get to be top contributor globally?!!!  addict? insomniac?

  5. Asking costs you 5 points. You can ask 5 questions each day. Earn more points by answering other people's questions. Basically, you have to answer other people's questions to ask questions, so people don't just ask and no one gives answers. People are just answering so they can earn more points so they can ask. Make sense?

  6. Did you bother to read the guidelines BEFORE asking?  It is all there so perhaps you should read them.

  7. I take your point, but look at this way: if you got points for asking, ppl would ask loads and loads of silly questions just to get points.

    You accumulate large numbers of points by:

    1.  answering lots of questions;

    2. giving really good answers - either useful info, funny stuff, or interesting personal anecdotes - then you get 10 points for Best Answers;

    3. trying not to break the Community Guidelines - you lose ten points if your question is deleted.
