  1. My favorite is a card game called "wig out".  Since you don't take turns, it is easy to play for even the youngest ages.  It works well with mixed groups too.

  2. Lotto, picture or sound.  Building bricks - who can build the highest tower.   Rolling a car or ball to one another, calling out child's name it is intended for first - a good way to learn names.   Playdough/gloop/pastry.   'Guess the picture'  adult starts to draw a picture children try to guess what it will be.

  3. hi-ho cherry o

    candy land

    hungry hungry hippos

or just let them color or do something with playdo.

  4. You will be lucky to get 2 to 3 year olds to sit down for very long.I do colouring, glitter pictures, handprintsetc.

Animal (or anything) snap where you place about 12 pictures  of familiar things (2 of each) face up and get them to find two to match (or sets of 2 identical toys). hunt the teddy, hide teddy and get them to find it with big clues (ie behind a big chair).

Watch c beebies on Tv they have some good activities for easy games so does their website via BBC.

  5. Animal lotto, five little ducks song, wooden jigsaws and simple pairs.  Two year olds learn through exploration and will only sit for a short amount of time.

  6. One of the best games at our nursery is some pieces of card with pictures of clowns juggling on them.

Each of the balls (about 6) are the size of coloured counters and you need a dice with 6 different coloured sides (use small circular stickers).

The children then roll the dice and put a counter over the ball when they roll the correct colour.  The first to cover all their balls is the winner!

It's a great way to learn the colours, turn taking and game play.   And, as long as you have someone who can draw and a few counters, stickers and a dice...very cheap to set up!

    Have fun!
