  1. NO is the answer to all of them questions!!!!

I HAVE BEEN BREEDING THEM FOR 46 YEARS AND I KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING!

if you keep them in a container/bucet they will become extremely stressed and as a consequence die!!

TAKE IT OUT NOW AND I WOULD BE VER GRATEFUL (AS WOULD THE SNAKE) IF YOU TOOK MY ADVICE AS I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING!!!

  2. 1. it can be fed insects or a small feeder mouse probably a pink.

    2. a bucket will probably work for awhile but an aquarium or terrarium would be best.

    3. sand can become lodged between its scales, I wouldn't recommend that. Soil, bark, NOT cedar or small pine chips.

    4. A container for water between feedings is good. A source of heat, such as a heat lamp.

    5. Yes that will work fine

    6. If he bites it won't be a serious matter just wash the bite really good

  3. you can feed

    minnows, earthworms, fish fillet,

or you can wean them too mice(i did that)

    what do you mean bucket???

    like a rubberMaid tub??

yes you can use sand i did with no problems

plastic ruber maid would work also the 10 gal fish tank would work also

yes u can get an infection

some garter snake's saliva keeps the blood from clotting

so you migh bleed for awhile

also you might get a rash like thing around the bite that will itch for a few minutes

no you wont need medical attention just some anti-biotics and a band aid

  4. 1) I fed mine feeder fish, earth worms and pinkie mice.

2 )No, buy a 20 gallon long tank or a two feet long plastic sweater box.  A bucket is too small.

    3) No, garter snakes love water and humidity. sand zaps away humidity and you should make sure that the dirt your using doesn't contain pesticides or parasites. Just use reptile carpet, bed a beast or even news paper is ok.

    4) feed him, clean his enclosure often, and give him a good size tank.

    5) yes bigger then a ten gallon and make sure you drill in some holes so your snake can breath.

    6) I've been bit several times by garter snakes. like all bites you should have it disinfected.
