Next Saturday I am swimming from Alcatraz. I've been swimming for 8 years now( im 14) and i live on the coast so i have been practicing in about 53 degree water swimming about a mile. I am not wearing a wetsuit because i could easily swim a mile in colder water, but When i swim in the ocean I swim with a small group, and i am swimming alcatraz with 350 other swimmers. I am kinda nervous about doing it with a big group and not being with anyone because I could of swam alcatraz in a small group that sticks together. So yeah this is my first open water race and if you guys have any advice on navigation, thats the only thing im worried about cause i swim roughly 3 miles a day and Alcatraz in only 1.5 miles.

Thanks

  2. in open water there are a lot of swimmer,a lot of swimmer are be not relax when they going to swim in ocean , try to relax ,listen to your ipod ,and focus on the race .try to make this swimmer useful according to you.in ocean there are a lot of waves,if the waves come to you try to avoid this waves and let another swimmer broke the wave .the another swimmer will be tired because waives ,and you you will be strong and i hope that advice is useful according to you.
