Question:

Any options besides veggie oil?

I would love to drive a gas free (or at least hybrid) car of some sort, and I was wondering what is available besides veggie oil in a diesel. I can't spend a ton of money on a shiny new car right now, but surely there are some other options?

  1. You can actually make your own diesel fuel.  One of my friends actually makes his own fuel. The bad thing is I can't remember how to make.  But it is very easy.

  2. Did you know that you can convert your car in minutes to a water-running car?

  4. Hi Guys,

I agree with cdavi323 these are all alternatives.

If you start producing your own bio diesel though you will have to notify customs and exercise and fill in a monthly form with details of amount used so that they can bill you approx. 48p tax per litre produced.

    Good in Britain isn't it?

  5. I think the fuel/car companies have pulled a sly one here.

Most combustion engines work by compressing fuel and then igniting it so that it rapidly expands pushing a piston down.

It does not have to be a hydrocarbon fuel or even a veggie oil.

Almost anything that will burn can be put through an internal combustion engine....the trick of course is if you use say wood dust how do you inject it into the cylinder without it clogging..if you make it a liquid it may be viable.

There are many fuels that can be used as to wether they are cost effective or enviromentally sound is another matter.
