Any other healthy human foods I can give my dog?

My french bulldog eats California natural small bites, and she gets Grizzly salmon oil drizzled over it and new canidae snap bits. And I give her an occasional raw egg. She gets a 6 inch bully stick every other day too. Any other friendly human foods that I can add. And also can I give my dog blueberries? she really enjoys them, should I continue giving those? Please no "only feed your dog dog food answers" because you guys are probably the same people who feed their dogs junk foods like beneful.

  1. They can have blueberries.

They can have anything but COOKED bones, deadly nightshade veggies, tomatoes...things like that.

  2. I wouldn't suggest feeding your dog raw eggs.Although rare, dogs can get sick from e coli and salmonella poisoning.Raw eggs also contain the enzyme avidin, which decreases the absorption the B vitamin, biotin.

Foods that your dog can eat (in snack like moderation of course):

    green beans

    peas

    carrots

    banana

    berries

    pumpkin

    apples (no seeds)

    pear

    parsley

    yogurt

    strawberries

    alfalfa sprouts

    zucchini & squashes

    celery

  3. PASTA!

Dogs love pasta and need those carbs.

    Espically a bulldog

  4. Vegetables are very good snack. find a vegatable that your dog likes. it will make him smarter. don't give him too many carbs or he will get fat.

  5. Blueberries as well as some other berries (cranberries, raspberries) are great little treats to use or add to your dogs foods. Other fantastic ideas are pumpkin (canned, but not pie filling kind), sweet potatoes, carrots, romaine lettuce, bananas, cored apples, bok choy, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, fresh cuts of muscle meats, and organs such as unbleached tripe and heart are fantastic, just keep doses small as to not upset the natural 'gut flora' in your dogs intestines which can cause upset tummy or diarrhea. bon apetite!

  6. Sure, blueberries are a good treat, they're high in antioxidants. Many premium foods do have blueberries as an ingredient for that reason. ( Too many could cause loose stool though.)

This study about sled dogs & blueberries was interesting:

  7. The only food we will give our dogs is meat...like chicken or steak.

    (they LOVE steak!!!!)

My husband used to give peanuts and chips....until I showed him the p**p in the back yard, which consisted of peanuts!!!!!

  8. Dogs digestive systems are very different than ours and are specifically designed to process meat, bones, and organs.  You might want to check out the group on yahoo.com called "RAWFEEDING".

Dogs are not really designed to eat veggies and fruits.  They have trouble breaking down the cellular walls, so many people cook them slightly before giving them to their dogs.

But I know what you mean.  My yorkie LOVES blueberries, etc.  I just break them up a bit so that hopefully she can digest them and I don't give her too much.  I don't think they will hurt her, but they may not be helping her much either.

Do some research on the raw food diet and you might be pleasantly surprised at what you can feed her.  Good luck.

  9. I've got a Kansas pet supply store that has lots of bargains on dog food. Try dropping in on a pet supply store in California and talk to the staff. http://www.locatepizza.com/California-Pi... Nearly all pet supply store employees are happy to answer any questions.

  10. Dogs can eat veggies and fruits.  Squash or pumpkin is great to add fiber to their diet.  Plain yogurt or cottage cheese can also be good to add in now and again.

Of course a quality dog food is best and is formulated for a dog's nutritional and digestive needs.  But some other human foods make excellent, and healthy treats.  Health wise, my dog's digestion was best when he got cooked squash with his kibble.  The yogurt also added in good bugs (acidophilus) into his system to help aid digestion.

  11. An occasional raw egg is great for her skin and coat, and the salmon oil should help her too.  I don't know anything about blueberries, but carrots are good for dogs and have the added benefit of cleaning their teeth.  Which is good for a Frenchie, since it can be hard to brush their teeth.

  12. You are doing such a good job now. I really can't think of anything else to be honest. A tiny bit of yogurt on occasion is good. Just don't give too much. Blueberries are excellent treats. High in antioxidants too. Wild foxes eat berries when they can't find any meat to eat.

miaugh, cool article, I think I will start supplementing with blueberries.

  13. Just so you know you spoil your dog rotten so all i have to say is wow but its not like i havent seen a dog spoiled that much before but you can give your dog carrots it helps clean their teeth a little bit
