Any other older folks like me plan to take a moment Saturday to remember Jerry Garcia?

I take a few moments each day to remember Jerry Garcia.

Any excuse to recall the greatness of the late Jerry Garcia is worth the time. The magnitude of his contributions and the scope of his musical genius becomes more obvious with each passing year.

These lyrics from Ripple always me recall:

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine

And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,

Would you hear my voice come thru the music,

Would you hold it near as it were your own?

Only a few days before Jerry Garcia died, maybe a week or two, my husband was sitting with him at the pool at the Betty Ford Center, the last place he left, before he gave up.  I saw him there, too, when I went out to visit, and he looked as bad as bad could be and was actually in a wheelchair when he arrived.  Although he perked up a little, he was basically done at that point.  What a loss!

At the pool, they just talked about life.  We are the same age, maybe you too, but to be honest, I don't feel old...

PS, my husband got the wrong diagnosis and care at BFC, turned out to be bipolar, is doing VERY well indeed; and once he got the diagnosis he needed, and appropriate medication, never again resorted to self-medication.  Wish it had been something like that for Jerry.

I didn't have any special plans. That kind of stuff makes me sad.

But I do think about him from time to time anyway.

(Especially when I buy Ice Cream. LOL)

I always wonder how many great songs he had left in him.

He will be missed.

Wow so cool Carlis. I would like to think that Jerry is up there jamming it up with Jimi, Jim morrison, John Lennon and all those other greats.I will be listening to the Dead this weekend that's for sure.
