Question:

Any other sciatica suffers? How are you coping?

I am doing all the usual stretches, changing positions, the "bicycle" motions, etc., but it's getting tough after the 7th month wears down. This is my second pregnancy. I remember that the end was brutal.

Any other sufferers who need some commisseration? Or any wise tips on other remedies?

  1. I just keep changing position and doing the stretches but at 32 weeks it is getting hard.  I about feel at Walmart the other day because it hurt so bad all of a sudden and I just wanted to cry.

  2. I had it with my first pregnancy to where I couldn't move.  Couldn't walk, couldn't stand.  I crawled to the car.  It was horrible.  I went to the chiropractor and it was fantastic.  Made a HUGE difference.  She was able to adjust my bones off the nerve to lessen the sciatica.  She had a pregnancy-friendly table where the belly came out and she was very gentle.  She also told me to do back arches.  Basically get on all 4's.  Arch your back high in the air and then let it sag all the way down.  It helps roll the baby off the nerve, if that's part of the problem.  After about 2 weeks I just about felt normal again.

  3. Man, I was dealing with that horribly!  After months of dealing with the debilitating pain, I realized that it was my maternity pillow causing it.  I've got one of those wrap around pillows and a very soft mattress.  The 2 worked great for the first 5 months or so, but then I started feeling AWFUL.  I got rid of the pillow and lo and behold, my back is great!  Sorry you're having such a hard time.  If you're using one of those pillows, try it without for a night and see if that helps.

  4. I have been suffering too for a month now and I have a month to go. It happens pretty much at night. Normally I take a hot shower and let the water hit my back. It gives me a lot of relief. Also I try to lay on my side as much as possible with a pillow in between my legs to keep my hips aligned properly and that works too. I really would like to see if there are other ways to alleviate the pain.

  5. yes and all i can do it take a warm bath or lay down. Mine gets so bad sometimes I can not walk. my baby will get on both sides at the same time it's awful!
